  • Secured 27 Mil USD Services contract as 'Oceanic Consultants Inc. ' to manage a Billion dollar oil and gas field development that included the conversion of an FPSO in 22 months to first oil - setting an industry record in 2009. Location was OML 120 offshore Nigeria and Client was ENI of Italy and Allied Energy of US. 2007-2009
  • Led US Sales efforts to secure charter contracts for a DP-3 FPSO for a Norwegian owner and international investors. 2004

  • Promoted sale of sub-sea wet and dry completion trees offshore Brazil. 1982-88
  • Successfully negotiated and signed an annual 44 million USD, offshore O&M Sub Sea Service contract between Husky Oil-Canocean and Petrobras. 1981

  • As project manager for the first 119 Million USD order that AKER SOLUTIONS manufactured and delivered to West Africa consisting of wellheads, completion trees, controls and umbilicals operating in 600 meters of water depth. 2005

OFFSHORE DIVING AND UNDERWATER VEHICLES

  • Assisted with securing RCV 150 contract for Santa Fe Diving Company in Brazil for platform installations work. One year contract awarded by MONTREAL MICOPERI. 1979 worth 17.5 Million Dollars 
  • Secured 90 days pipelines survey work for GAS DEL ESTADO. Estimated revenues of one million to Oceaneering Diving Corporation. 1980. Secured Diving contract with Chiliean Navy for Oceaneering. 1981. Contract value 8.2 Million dollars
  • Formed J. V. in Argentina for performing offshore survey work with local contractor. 1977.  Oceaneering International has the same JV partner to this day some 30 yearsl later
  • Promoted RCV and JERED RECON VEHICLES in Latin America for two major diving contractors. 1983

  • Promoted Fugro McClelland Geotechnical and Geophysical services to National Oil Companies in Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Chile. 1983
  • Secured 9.2 million USD coring and soil project in Peru for Fugro , involving the evaluation of onshore water tables. 1984
  • Promoted and bid contract to AEC for cleanup of Pacific Atomic test sites. 1981

PURCHASING AND MATERIAL CONTROL

  • Secured 3.0 million USD, 2-year purchasing/material control contract for SANTA FE with LAGOVEN for purchasing surface production equipment and land/barge drilling components. (Profit margin was in excess of 30%). 1979
  • Consulted to Ferrostaal - Brazil operations to secure purchasing contracts for major Gulf of Mexico projects, providing procurement services out of Houston, Texas, with materials and financing coming from Germany and Brazil. 1983
  • Managed, coordinated and expedited the capital equipment procurement, inspection and expediting associated with a 368 Mil USD FPSO conversion project in 22 months involving 1723 technical interfaces that had to be closed out before acceptance. 2009
  • Sourced acquistion of two used drilling Jack Ups for conversion to MOPU in GOM and moved to Nigeria.  Sourced and procured the deck production modules, reciptating and rotating equipment along with specialized piping and presure vessels. Client was offshore operator in Nigeria. Procurement and Expiditing was 10,000 man hours over eighteen months. 2017

FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC FINANCING

  • Assisted Sonate Drilling Co. using my high level contacts and friendships in Brazil to negotiate with Petrobras and Central Bank in expatriating 60 million USD out of Brazil via legal banking avenues and at height of a financial crisis in Brazil. 1985
  • Assisted ICA/IH: Mexico's largest manufacturer of drilling and earth moving equipment, to provide Mexican Government export financing for all sales being promoted in North America. Successful in negotiating 8.5% financing over ten years with two year grace on principal. 1981-1985  100 Million dollar export line of credit
  • Arranged for Transco Exploration to receive a 5 Million line of credit with "Off-balance-Sheet" terms for the purchase of a Mexican fabricated offshore platform with loan terms of 10 year financing at fixed interest with a two year grace period. 1984
  • Assisted K. Keplinger in securing a $7.2 Million USD grant from DOE with matching private financing for a horizontal drilling project in Cado Pines - LA. 1987
  • Arranged via NIAC-Japan in funding 180 Mil USD of Project Financing for SONANGOL - ANGOLA in support of the CABINDA Development B & C project in partnership with CHEVRON Overseas Petroleum Company. 1993
  • While at ABBSSA was one of the three original signatures to the funding and development of the 'West Africa Pipeline Company' with Chevron Overseas Co. called the 'WAPCO project'. 1994  600 Million dollar value 
  • Supported the applicaltion and technical execution portion of a funding reqest process to secured Project funding from Blackstone for a FLNG project in 2015 and totalling 4 Billion in value.  Provided all the "technical execution plans and procedures" for the project to give comfort to Blackston London that the project would be contructed on "time and on budget".

HEAVY EARTH MOVING AND CIVIL LIFTING EQUIPMENT

  • Promoted a large line of earth moving equipment fabricated in Mexico under license from Link Belt. Models promoted and exported were: 8040, 8022, 4800, 318, 108, 98, 2500, 8020, 8015. (1981-1987)
  • Promoted and sold Telesmith rock crushing equipment. 1981-1987
  • Secured a Civil Contractor in Nigeria to construct a coffer dam to allow the installation of a floating 120 MW (S&S) Thermal Power Plant and backfilled the dam to allow permenant residency of the barge and power facility utilizing ABB Nigeria switch gear. 2011

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

  • Secured Project Management Systems Development Contracts in Venezuela with LAGOVEN and MARAVEN and in Peru with OXY on behalf of Delta Project Management Systems Group. 1976
  • Set up and secured P.O. for providing Project Management Training Courses in country (Peru) with OXY and PETROPERU. 1984
  • Successfully marketed a PC Computerized Project Management System (Software) capable of tracking 14,000 tasks simultaneously, with decision tracking and management graphics. 1987
  • Provided Project Management systems and Interface management series for the FPSO conversions of the Petro Jarl I and II out of Houston, Norway and the shipyards. 1985-1992
  • As COO of an Offshore Engineering Company directed the setup of a project management processes, using MS Project Planner, and Share Point tied to an FTP site and weekly worldwide Teleconference system (voice over IP) to address Engineering, Procurement and Manpower all in compliance with ISO 9001:2008.
  • Played a key role in the securing and/or management of 13 FPSO's over a 30 year period for various majors and independent Oil Companies/Operators. Roles ranged from Project Director, Package Manager, SURF Manager to Business Development Director. 1985-2015

  • Founded and started a "Field-Rotary-Maintenance-Group" at CANOCEAN RESOURCES, LTD., in Houston, Texas that was able to secure work within the first four weeks of operation. 1980

Two were barge mounted in conjunction with Stewart and Stevenson Company deploying LM 6000 Gen packages. 1994. Moved the units in 2015 and managed reconnection and startup and commissioning

  • Secured the worlds only patents for "Composite Drilling Risers" from Spencer Composits and set up new company to build, test and deploy Composite risers to allow 1-2 generation drill ships to go to 3-4 generation water deepths but just changing out the riser system. 2016  

OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

  • Pre-qualified the first foreign platform fabricator (Mexican) to be invited to bid platform fabrication in Gulf of Mexico by various U.S. Gulf operators. In first 90 days wrote technical pre-qualification document and presented it to twenty major and independent oil producers. Received five invitations to bid for structures ranging from 110' to 310' by end of third month. 1988
  • Introduced numerous high level managers including the President of International Paint Co. to various major and independent platform operators promoting offshore paint systems in conjunctions with a "Guaranteed Maintenance Program". 1987
  • Provided comprehensive market study of High Performance Protective Coatings in Gulf-U.S. sector and subsequently arranged for all sales introductions necessary to place International Paint Co. on qualified bidders list with the correct coating specifications. 1987
  • Pre-qualified the first Brazilian "Deep Water" (400 +ft.) platform fabricator, Odebrecht, to bid fabrication and transportation of platforms from Brazil to various Gulf of Mexico operators. The total marketing program was successfully promoted for two years with 6.5% Brazilian Government Subsidized Export Financing. 1990
  • Provided all necessary marketing in the Houston area for Petromarine Engineering of Texas, promoting Houston executed engineering services related to offshore platforms and drilling equipment.
  • Responsible for the Commercial Lead on a 330 Mil LSTK award of three offshore platforms for Chevron-Angola. 1992
  • Developed a Service Group with a 900 ton derrick DP2 Vessel and necessary Marine Spread and engineering support to remove 22 platforms a year from the Gulf of Mexico and remediate the sea floor in compliance with MMS criteria. 2012

MANAGEMENT

  • Restructured Canocean into profit centers in order to allow rapid diversification by product line and reduce overhead. 1982
  • Led the Canocean from single line product into multi-line product and service organization via acquisitions in an eight month period. 1983
  • Faced with serious slippages in the construction of a 55.0 million drill (Glomar 40) ship due to lack of "on-time" delivery of component parts, established the use of a PERT system with the construction contractor.  Effected cost reductions of several hundred thousand dollars. 1974
  • Due to a large decrease in Vetco Offshore sales in 1977, a detailed analysis of new market opportunities and a reevaluation of the sales-agent network was required. Collected data and compiled a report to the board with specific recommendations relative to sales strategies and market penetration.
  • Directed field management of Canocean - two Field Service Offshore Diving Organizations that logged in of 50,000 hours of accident free diving time servicing sub-sea production equipment in Brazil. 1982
  • In 1980 hired and directed the necessary talent (102) within Canocean to do the following:
    • Establish a project management group with necessary software and financial systems.
    • Reorganize into matrix structure by profit center.
    • Enter new markets; Mid-East, India and Africa.
    • Develop and locate acquisition candidates.
    • Register a Libyan, Peruvian and Brazilian company.
    • Secure engineering work in China (PRC).
    • Setup new rotary/recp maintenance group that secured work in first four weeks of operation.
  • Managed the bidding, contracting, construction or conversion of 13 FPSO's over thirty years of which the most notably was the Hyundai delivery of EXXON Kizomba A and B for Angola and CAMAC-NAE OYO for Nigeria. OYO set an industry record of 22 months from sanction to first oil. 2009
  • Set up procurement and management processes, hired and managed a team of 112 engineers, expeditors, inspectors and contract administrators that was responsible for 1 Billion USD expenditure to bring a 50 Mil barrel oil and gas field on production in 22 months involving 7 main contractors in 5 different countries, 158 vendors, 63 subcontractors, 27 manufacturing locations in 14 countries, 7 fabrication sites on 5 continents and close out of 1723 technical and contractual project interfaces. 2007-09
  • Project Interface Manager for the execution and deployment of the first CNG FPSO to be delivered to a North Sea Block for monetizing gas and moving the gas to Europe using a new composite containment system. CNG FPSO will have two shuttle tankers to transport the CNG in composite tanks. Project in process; Client is Confidential. 2013  Never went foward as the tanks were too heavy. CGL is the solution now.

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

  • Coordinated development efforts and the production of technical slide presentations, movies, and video aids for sales efforts promoting engineering, project management, fabrication and research development services. All sales aids were produced with multi-language capabilities.
  • Directed a 2.0 million USD advertising campaign to change the image of a company that had lost 114.0 million USD in the previous twelve years.
  • Developed all technical sales materials to complement a new sales program promoting engineering service for PM Engineering and Petromarine Engineering of Texas.

RESERVOIR ENGINEERING, ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY STUDIES, SPECIAL CORE ANALYSIS AND ASSOCIATED GEOLOGICAL SERVICES

  • Introduced, promoted and secured a 780,000 USD Technical Advisory Contract on an annual/renewal term with the National Oil Company of Brazil (Petrobras) for The Corelab Engineering and Consulting Division of Litton Resources Company. (Started in 1984 and was still active through 1994 under the name Litton Industries)
  • Structured and promoted a 15.2 million USD horizontal drilling R&D project that was funded by DOE grant of 7.2 million USD for Improved Gravity Drainage Co., K & A Energy Consultants and Teraquest Resources.
  • Promotion and marketing evaluation and reservoir engineering services for Keplinger and Associates, target­ing international clients based in Houston, Texas.
  • Promoted E & C Services for Corelab's Houston division securing in excess of 1.5 million in bid request and 300,000 USD in contract awards in six months - all associated with Reservoir Engineering Services with major and independent oil operations in Gulf area.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

  • Consulted to Garrett AiResearch for aircraft sales to Mideast in conjunction with a French Airframe Manufac­turer. 1980
  • Provided North American Marketing coverage for various select clients (small to medium commuter airlines) for Brazilian Twin Engine Turbo prop sales on behalf of Embraer. Assisted in the sales service of 11 units to Continental Airlines in Houston. Embraer set up their own direct sales group in Houston after this contract. 1985
  • Provided client rep services to The NASA - Johnson Space Center Community, Houston, Texas for various DOD contractors. 1986
  • Promoted Spencer Composits at NASA Houston for use as fuel tanks in the NASA space vehicles 2017

STEEL PLANTS AND ROLLING MILLS

  • Instrumental in locating an idle USX Rolling Mill and affecting the sale and associated technology to Brazil via the largest Brazilian company - Odebrecht. Total value of the transfer was 20 million USD. 1987
  • Consulted to Odebrecht on procurement support for the largest construction project in 1987, valued at 500 mil USD, with various specified U.S. and Canadian supplied equipment for a steel mill. 1988

TECHNICAL AND PETROLEUM ENGINEERING SOFTWARE

  • Under direct contract with Corelab, Inc. parent of J.S. Nolen and Associates, Inc. arranged demos and sales of software in South America. 1985 Effected the sales of 3.4 Million of software licences for Corelab Inc out of Dallas TX

LABORATORY SERVICES (Cores and Rocks)

  • Under direct contract with Corelab Engineering and Consulting Div. successfully marketed following services for Corelab Gulf Coast Lab Facilities with independents and major oil companies in Houston area:  special core analysis services, x-ray diffraction analysis, scanning, electron microscopy, thin section analysis. 1986

VENTURE CAPITAL

  • In 2000 was contracted to be the Managing Director of a the seventh largest Venture Capital company in Texas called "Millennium Energy Ventures, LLC" and successfully administrated two funds totaling 90 Million USD for "Emerging Technologies" and "Medical Devices and Technologies". At the first financial crises in the US in 2003 dissolved the company and returned all principal invested to the partners and closed the VC Company. All investments were legally and properly closed out. No lost their principal. 

RENEWABLE ENERGY

  • Negotiated Binding Project MOU for a 100 MW SOLAR PV Power plant and installation with tie in to the grid with the Department of Energy and the Central Energy Fund in South Africa valued at 500 Mil USD investment in a four month period from start to signature. 2011
